Description

CARBIDE TURNING INSERTS CNMA

CNMA carbide turning inserts are robust, double-sided, negative rake inserts with an 80° diamond (rhomboid) shape and a 0° clearance angle.
These inserts are designed for medium to heavy-duty turning operations where strength, stability, and resistance to wear are essential.
Made from high-performance cemented carbide substrates and enhanced with CVD or PVD coatings (such as TiN, TiCN, or Al₂O₃), CNMA inserts provide excellent heat resistance, toughness, and long tool life, even in demanding cutting conditions.

Key Features:

• Shape: 80° diamond (rhomboid)
• Relief Angle: 0° (negative geometry)
• Cutting Edges: Double-sided – 4 cutting edges per insert
• Mounting Type: Clamp or pin lock
• Coatings: CVD, PVD, TiN, TiCN, Al₂O₃ (depending on grade)
• Application Type: Semi-finishing, finishing, and general turning

Applications

CNMA carbide inserts are mainly used for turning cast irons, steels, and stainless steels, as well as for other high-strength materials that generate short chips.
Their negative geometry and strong cutting edge make them ideal for stable, high-feed machining with high material removal rates.

Typical workpiece materials:

• Cast Iron (Gray & Ductile): Excellent chip control and wear resistance
• Carbon and Alloy Steels: Good performance in medium and finishing operations
• Stainless Steel: Reliable results with suitable chipbreaker and coating
• Hardened Steels: Applicable for light finishing with advanced coatings
• Non-ferrous Metals (Al, Cu, Brass): Limited use; only with specific sharp-edge or uncoated grades
• Heat-resistant Alloys: Certain grades suitable for light finishing of Inconel, Hastelloy, etc.

Common Operations:

• General turning and facing
• Semi-finishing and finishing passes
• Continuous and interrupted cuts
• High-stability roughing on rigid setups

Advantages & Performance

• High strength and edge stability: Negative geometry allows heavy loads and longer tool life
• Excellent wear resistance: Durable carbide grades and multi-layer coatings resist heat and abrasion
• Stable cutting performance: Ideal for continuous or lightly interrupted turning
• Cost-effective: Four cutting edges per insert for maximum efficiency
• Consistent surface finish: Reliable results in cast iron and steel machining
