Description

CNMX CARBIDE TURNING INSERTS

CNMX carbide turning inserts are single-sided, negative-geometry indexable inserts featuring an 80° diamond (rhomboid) shape with a 0° relief angle. These inserts are designed for heavy-duty roughing and semi-finishing operations, particularly where strength, stability, and chip control are critical.

Manufactured from cemented carbide (WC–Co) and coated with advanced MT-CVD or CVD coatings (TiCN + Al₂O₃ + TiN), CNMX inserts offer excellent wear resistance, heat stability, and tool life even under demanding cutting conditions.

Key Features

• Shape: 80° diamond (rhomboid)
• Relief Angle: 0° (negative geometry)
• Cutting Edges: Single-sided – 2 cutting edges per insert
• Mounting Type: Central hole (clamp or screw type fixing)
• Coatings: MT-CVD / CVD multilayer coatings (TiCN, Al₂O₃, TiN)
• Chipbreaker Options: TF, RF, or MF types for efficient chip evacuation
• Corner Radius: Typically available in 0.4 – 1.2 mm range
• Insert Size Range: Common sizes from 12 mm to 19 mm inscribed circle
• Recommended Use: High-stability cutting, high-feed roughing, and semi-finishing

Materials & Applications

CNMX inserts are ideal for a broad range of materials, especially in operations requiring high metal removal rates and robust insert design.

Typical Workpiece Materials:

• Steel (carbon and alloy steels) – ideal for roughing and general machining
• Hardened steel – suitable with specific carbide grades
• Cast iron (gray and ductile) – excellent chip control and wear resistance
• Stainless steel – effective when paired with proper coating and geometry
• Superalloys (limited use) – under controlled cutting conditions

Common Operations:

• Heavy-duty roughing with large depths of cut
• Semi-finishing and finishing at moderate feed rates
• Continuous and slightly interrupted cutting

Advantages & Performance

• High rigidity and stability: The negative geometry and thicker insert body provide excellent resistance to cutting forces and vibration.
• Exceptional wear resistance: MT-CVD coatings and fine-grain substrates extend tool life under tough machining conditions.
• Consistent performance: Delivers reliable results in continuous or interrupted cuts.
• Versatile applications: Suitable for a wide range of materials and turning operations.
• Economic efficiency: Durable design reduces downtime and tool change frequency.
