Methods of operation (in realtion to the series)
Actuated by electrical curent:
-engaged by D.C – relesed by the springs.
Actuated by loss of electrical current:
-engaged by springs – released by D.C
Hints on Construction and Operation
Selection of type according to application requirements and constructional possibilities, i.e wet or dry operation, required switching accuracy, speed rating, duty factor, ilde-run power.
Selection of size according to torque rating and switching requirements.
Friction disc combination:
steel/steel – wet operation
steel/sintered bronze – wet operation
steel/organic lining – dry operation
Coil voltage normally 24 volts, other voltages on request
Coils are insulated to class B (insulation class F possible)
Max. temperature limit 130 °C (155 °C) – VDE 0580
Current supply:
-dry operation – bronze carbon brushes
Peripheral speed of the slipring > 20 m/s use 2 brushes per slipring, at 90 to 120° apart.
-wet operation – bronze gauze brushes
Peripheral speed of slipring > 10 m/s use 2 brushes per slipring
